Father’s Day weekend began
with Friday evening packet
pickup at the Civic Center.
Guests were treated to
Sebring’s Dog Daze of Summer
on the Sebring Circle. Our
cycling sponsor, Legacy
Bicycles, hosted a pasta
dinner and ice cream social
for all child participants
in the children’s
triathlon.
Saturday morning was filled
with music and energy levels
second to none as 240
children ages 5-15
participated in the USAT
Florida Regional Youth
Triathlon Championships.
The swim was once again held
in the crystal clear waters
of Lake Jackson as families
and friends watched from the
shoreline. Every child
award winner received a
custom pair of Heartland
Triathlon sunglasses and a
photo with our Kids race
Title Sponsor TD Bank’s very
own mascot, TD!
Athletes arriving for packet
pickup on Saturday evening
were treated to adult
beverages, snacks, and music
by California Toe Jam. It
was a great time to get
reacquainted with fellow
triathletes.
Father’s Day morning began
with our first running of an
Olympic distance triathlon
in Highlands County. Three
waves of Olympic distance
athletes were immediately
followed by the Sprint
distance event. The weather
was slightly cooler than
normal which made for both a
pleasant and competitive
event. Every participant
was treated to one of the
best goodie bags seen in all
of triathlon that included:
custom race towels,
sunglasses, ion necklaces,
performance shirts, water
bottles, and race bandanas.
Fantastic music, food, and
drink helped to supplement
the already very positive
energy, laughter, and
story-telling occurring
after the race. Age group
winners were treated to
custom designed bottles of
wine with overall winners
receiving an autographed
copy of Mark Allen’s book,
Fit Soul Fit Body.
